Ive used these when I want my Trek Poles to day hike, also a lighter alternative than just taking along trek poles when you only want to pitch the tarp. These poles are kite parts, Sky Shark 2 P400, one missing nipple. Using poles with tarp is improvised to your preference, it is not intuitive or provided for with tarp design. This tarp is more generously sized than an ultralight one-person tent or bivy with room for two. Ive used the Echo 2 tarp mostly without bug insert, but also the insert by itself as a bivy bag in bad bug areas.
