Will throw in some cuben fiber tape. Rain test: I put this up in the backyard and sprayed it down with the hose for a few minutes. Water rolled off well and under the canopy stayed completely dry. On the inside of the tent I found no wetness. The underside was dry to the touch. While this might not be ideal for your next thru hike I would trust it to put up with rain.
