This ZPack Splash Bivy Bag has a Cuben Fiber/ DCF bathtub bottom. The top is Green lightweight Ripstop nylon not waterproof, DWR with treatment. 12 inch WP breathable foot and head sections protecting the bivy from weather on the ends for use with a tarp. Flat this is 40 by 88 inches, the Splash Bivy is not being made by ZPack at the moment. This has seen only about three weeks of use, primarily cowboy camping in the desert to keep creepy. Bugs out of my sleeping bag. Actually I quilt so I’m wide open to dirt and crawling insect so I really like a bivy for containing the quilt. I’m not camping solo much at the moment so it is not getting good use. This bivy bag is in very good condition but could be 4-5 year old. Not sure when they stop production. Cuben Fiber repair tape on one unfinished seam at the head that started to fray as seen in photo. No issue here and ZPack didn’t want to fix it, really didn’t need it. Small mosquito mesh on head end is 17″ wide by 11″ in length, with a loop for top line to raise bag off face. I guess it works but I never really needed it. Glow in the dark zipper pull by MSR. I include some DCF repair tape. The Splash bivy adds a small amount of warmth to your sleep system, keeps insects at bay, and protects your sleeping bag against dew, condensation, and light spray under a tarp or minimal shelter. It has a waterproof bathtub Dyneema Composite Fabric floor, and Waterproof breathable material at the head and foot to block rain spray and protect from brushing against a wet tarp. The top of the bivy is made from water-resistant, breathable Ventum ripstop nylon so that you don’t overheat. These features from the ZPack website but has not been offered in the last few years. Fully waterproof 1.0 oz/sqyd DCF material bathtub floor. The floor has 6 inch (15 cm) walls to protect against ground water. 70 oz/sqyd (23.7 g/m2) Ventum Ripstop Nylon top is coated with DWR to help shed dew, condensation, and light rain spray to protect your sleeping bag. The nylon top is highly breathable so you don’t overheat in warm weather. The nylon portion of the top is not waterproof, it will soak through in prolonged exposure. The head and foot of the bivy are enhanced with Waterproof-Breathable material to block rain spray and protect from brushing against a wet tarp. There is a loop at both ends of the zipper for lifting the head and/or foot for better air flow. (The photos don’t show the loop near the foot). The top zipper entry is easy to get in and out of, and easy to open up for venting. The bivy will add some warmth to your sleep system- about as much as sleeping with just a sheet at home. On hot summer nights you may not need a sleeping bag. Sewn in face screen keeps insects out- or leave the face zipper open when insects aren’t present. A loop over your face allows you to raise the screen off your upper body. Attach the included elastic cord to your tarp or to a tree branch overhead. There are 6 loops at the four corners and sides to secure the bivy to your tarp to keep it in place.
