British made waxed canvas fabric, rewaxing is possible with an appropriate wax product but this shouldn’t be needed for years unless used as a ground cloth on porous surface (ie wax will get rubbed off and absorbed). There’s no waterproof layer and no PFCs, the wax is a by product of petroleum distillation. Waxed canvas should also handle the odd spark from the fire easily without damage but caution should still be used around a fire or heat source.
