I suppose if you’re reading this posting, you are familiar with Hilleberg, and they’re amazing, durable tents. But if you’re new to the Hilleberg experience, the main draw for me is incredibly well-made materials and the quality of the sewing and design. Hilleberg is nothing like the vast majority of tent manufacturers, which produce most of their tents from a few giant factories in China. All Hillebergs are made in their own factory in Estonia; the R&D, sales, customer service etc. Are handled in Sweden or Washington state. That mission method of production is obviously much slower than making tents at a giant factory in China, but each tent is actually signed by the one expert who sewed it! Hello – Well, I couldn’t remember when I bought it, so I went through my gear file in the basement and found the original receipt! I bought the tent in February 2005. I used the tent several times between then and 2007, and then didn’t do any snow camping for about five years after our kids were born. I went back into snow camping probably 2013 or 2014. I don’t think I’ve ever gone on more than two trips in a year, and most of my trips have been one overnight and then a two-night in Feb or March. I don’t think I’ve used the tent more than three or four times in the last 10 years. I remember a spring trip with some friends about six years ago, and then I went on my first Boy Scouts snow camping trip with my son this past February. So I probably have a total of about 25-30 nights in the tent over the roughly 10 years that I’ve actually gone snow camping. The tent is in very good shape, with no known damage. The fly is a different color than it seems that the new Green Akto are. The green is quite a bit paler than the current green, which looks almost black to my eye. How old is the tent? How many times did you use it? Is there any damage or wear to the tent or any components?
