The tarp is in overall great shape. Not sure on the age, has a paper tag which list the material and dimensions. Has some yellowing writing on some parts of the tarp as you can see in the photos. On one end there is 2 sets of grommets on each corner and on the other side there is 1 grommet in each corner. Not sure what the intended purpose of this would be but I would assume that it could be used to create a shelter/ tent out of it.
Hand crafted heavy duty waxed canvas and leather tarp. Classic 8′ x 8′ (2.45m x 2.45m) that can be pitched in a huge selection of different ways. Excuse the terrible pictures as I’ve not had time to get proper photos yet. Sale is for tarp only, guy lines and carabiner not included. Hand crafted in the English Lake District from entirely UK made components such as pure copper hand peened rivets, brass washers, hand cut heavy duty 3mm vachetta leather (5mm veg tan on ridge-line tie outs for extra durability) and tan goatskin 1.3mm leather reinforcements. Fully double stitched throughout. This tarp weighs in at 3.35kg and measuring 8′ square with 8 tie outs (each corner and midway between corners). Triple fold ridgeline (very strong and waterproof way of doing it, no half measures). It’s also possible to add more tie-outs along the ridgeline or on the panels if you want (see other listing for these upgrades). The tan waxed canvas doesn’t show the tan much until the light shines through it and is 12oz/y2 making a long lasting bit of kit, it can also be rewaxed or repaired. Some of the big benefits of canvas is that it’s darker in bright sun, quieter in the wind (less like a plastic bag compared to polyester or nylon) and far longer lasting (and can be repaired) and doesn’t have any nasty PFCs or chemical waterproofing. Tarp / ground sheet/ picnic blanket /waterproof wrap. Useful for a multitude of tasks. Perfect for solo trips with of without a bivy or as a addition to a colder weather setups and has a multitude of uses around camp. 8oz/y2 wet waxed canvas with 6x 2.8mm thick veg tan leather tie outs and pure hand peened copper rivets. Leather tie out reinforcements are veg tan goat hide. Tie-outs are in each corner plus halfway along long side. 270cm (9′) x 145cm (4’9) 1. British made waxed canvas fabric, rewaxing is possible with an appropriate wax product but this shouldn’t be needed for years unless used as a ground cloth on porous surface (ie wax will get rubbed off and absorbed). There’s no waterproof layer and no PFCs, the wax is a by product of petroleum distillation. Waxed canvas should also handle the odd spark from the fire easily without damage but caution should still be used around a fire or heat source.
