I have preferred to use my HMG Ultamid 4 with less solo camping I do now. Clearing out older stuff. My weights are real life with guy lines. That may differ than the HMG website. Echo 2 Tarp, 9.1 oz Spruce Green DCF. Echo 2 Insert, 15.2 oz Mesh & White & black DCF. Echo 2 Beak, 4.7 oz Spruce Green DCF. Zpack poles, 32 & 48, 2.5 ounces. MSR tent stakes, 2.4 ounces. Gossamer Gear Poly Ground Sheet, 1.9 ounces, New and unused. Eric the Black PCT So. 8 Extra MSR tent stakes for spares. You wont find many lighter tents or tarps setups with this many options. This tarp by itself is the only way I can get ultralight, under ten pounds base weight. The Hyperlite Echo 2 can work like a traditional fully-enclosed tent, but weighs much less. It includes a tarp, a detachable no-see-um mesh bug bivy insert with bathtub floor to keep out ground water and insects, and a detachable vestibule,’Beak’, for protection from rain and wind. Made from DCF, Dyneema®Composite Fabrics (formerly Cuben Fiber), the strongest, lightest and most weatherproof fabric available in outdoor gear. I include a couple of Zpack Poles, an earlier model, lighter than newer Zpack poles. Ive used these when I want my Trek Poles to day hike, also a lighter alternative than just taking along trek poles when you only want to pitch the tarp. These poles are kite parts, Sky Shark 2 P400, one missing nipple. Using poles with tarp is improvised to your preference, it is not intuitive or provided for with tarp design. This tarp is more generously sized than an ultralight one-person tent or bivy with room for two. Ive used the Echo 2 tarp mostly without bug insert, but also the insert by itself as a bivy bag in bad bug areas. This tarp is in very good to excellent condition, having spent most my time in my first white cuben fiber Echo 2 & then replaced to Spruce Green when it became available, 2016? Used for 20 days, 300 miles at most, we are a pet & fragrance free household. Extra 1.8mm Dynaglide loops on each end of tarp for using longer, fixed length Trek Poles of any size, see photo with trek pole grip for detail. The beak was only used one week when I loaned to a friend for a modesty situation in crowded PCT camping areas. Trekking poles not included.
