Vintage Sporthaus Schuster Munchen (Munich) ASMU German canvas tent from the late 1950s – early 60s. Sporthaus Schuster is still in business I believe. Sorry about the photos – I was just trying to get it to a 3D form. It has 2 standard reinforced bottom patches and top holes for a tapered telescoping/graduated aluminum pole, or wood – rest of the set up is just old school Coleman stake-out and line set-up. Great design, lower backpacking height, taller in the front, but sturdy so maybe for basecamp for climbing, kayaking, etc. Nice German cleats on the guylines. The owner was a German immigrant who backpacked and kayaked all over Europe before emigrating to Oregon, where he continued to do so into old age, although he graduated to MSR tents and modern fabrics. The tent has been meticulously treated and stored so it is free of any smells, mold, etc. It has a heavy rubberized bottom that has a few small repairs that have held up well. The door zipper has been sown 3 from the top where it looks like it separated at one point (as shown in photo). It’s a solid repair (German and all). No holes that I could see. Porthole windows are in good shape. It really is in amazing condition. The canvas is high quality and in great shape. Measures about 8′ long, 5′ at the front and tapers 3′ at the back. Looks like it gets to about 42-48 high at the front pole. Weighs about 15 pounds. Comes with original stuff sack.
